Welcome to Day 1 of the Rambler EP Experience

Congrats! You’ve just taken your first steps into the Rambler Experience! Over the next few days we’re going to be listening to a lot of songs, talking about lyrics, and getting to know each other a lot better. Adelaide is the very first song I released, so what better way to start this journey together?

Scroll down to listen and get lost!

Life’s been good,

So Adelaide, why are you running away?

Wish you could lay those shadows down,

And find your way back home.

You cursed this hallowed ground in your own head

I can’t slow down,

I guess that’s why we’re always running around.

Wish you could lay those shadows down,

And find your way back home.

You cursed this hallowed ground in your own head

And all your friends;

They’re running wild.

I could forgive you while you burn it down,

If you forgive me while I cry.

When daylight comes

We’ll be undone.

There’s time to rest your tired bones,

And sleep off the drugs.

Now she’s dead and gone away

But at night I sometimes dream about you Adelaide.

Morning comes, another day.

I lay awake and think about you Adelaide.

Whoa, Adelaide

Lyrics

Behind the Lyrics

Adelaide is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written. I wrote it when someone very close to me was struggling and I saw them self-destructing. They turned to booze, drugs, relationships, and anything else you can imagine over a few years. Each vice they tried just left them feeling more lost than before. I was afraid for them. I was afraid that they wouldn’t ever be able to pull out of the spiral they were in. Adelaide came from a place of worry, and empathy near the end of that period. The good news is that they figured things out and are much happier now.
